The International Civil Defence Organisation is an intergovernmental organisation whose objective is to contribute to the development by States of structures ensuring the protection and assistance of population and safeguarding property and the environment from natural or man-made disasters.

These training sessions are implemented in the ICDO Regional Training Centers: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Russia, Senegal, Tunisia. More

Development of partnerships between potential donors of civil defence equipment, Fire Brigade,… and ICDO Member States.
Audit and Consultancy World Civil Defence day
Evaluation of national civil defence systems with a view to reinforcing them in particular in the following fields :
• Planning (i.e. design and implementation of national organisation and rescue plans)
• Management of emergency situations, of human and material resources, and of public communication.

Conception of notions enabling activities in favour of populations and the safeguard of property and environment to be oriented or directed.

World Civil Defence Day is celebrated every year on 1st March. This Day commemorates the entry into force in 1972 of the ICDO Constitution as an inter-governmental organisation and has two main purposes :
bringing to the attention of the public world-wide the vital importance of Civil Defence,
raising awareness of the preparedness for, and prevention and self-protection measures in the event of accidents or disasters
The World Days are an occasion for a variety of national events: symposium, conferences, radio and television debates, open days, disaster prevention and simulation exercises.
In 2009, the theme of the World Civil Defence Day was focused on: “Civil Defence: preventive information and communication techniques”
